historyofgambling.org The history of gambling is something that will probably seem a lot different to those who look back from the future. To us, we see the history of gambling as being an evolution of different games from all over the world converging and mixing to create the games we know today. The great American game of course is poker, which is derived from much older European games, but we have a timeless image of poker players in barroom saloons in the old west that is much tied up with our perception of history in the west in general, not just with the history of gambling.
In the future though, the history of gambling will be all about the internet. The online gaming revolution has changed the way that we see and perceive gambling so much in the present, and in the future, the way they gamble will be deeply influenced by the way online gaming has developed in recent years. Online gaming has become so popular in the last decade that online gaming has become a multi-billion dollar industry. That is a far cry from the lonely games in saloons that we remember from western novels and duster movies.
Of course, the history of gambling is always going to continue evolving. The games themselves will probably transmute and mutate into new forms as more and more games are played online. The ability to view more information online and play quicker will also likely inform the creation of new kinds of gambling games that have never been seen before. The creators of those new games that will surely come will be the gambling moguls of the future, the way that the casino owners of Vegas are today. Gambling, like anything else, is always about the next best thing, and whoever comes up with that new and exciting concept that will revolutionize gambling next is sure to enjoy the profits it will bring them.
